rainy

...and just like that the weather changes.

that's the way of it here in the pacific northwest. it was 85º on monday, and here we are on thursday and it only got up to 67º. yesterday i finally got to wear the sweater i made. it was lovely (wearing the sweater, i mean).

walking home in the deluge just added to my mounting excitement about my forthcoming venture to the middle of the earth (not to be confused with the center of the earth!). i leave for ecuador in four days. two of those are work days, and one is a shopping day. that leaves me just one day for laundry / packing / cleaning house. i always think i'll leave my house nice and clean when i go out of town, and usually all i manage is to get my dishes done and the bathroom cleaned. dusting, making my bed and putting away all the junk i decided not to pack always seems to go by the wayside as i get crunched for time.

but i'm not gonna worry too much about it. i'm too excited and have too much else to worry about for now without working things up. look out ecuador...i'm almost there.

i'm back

i finally have my internet access sorted out and now sit at the desk in my little apartment, blogging away.

the highlight of the week was definately spending saturday with my sister and sunday afternoon swimming with my friend's daughter (they're both my friends, but one in a sister kind of way, and one in more of an auntie sort of way).

it's been ages since my sister and i have spent a whole saturday together, and it was really great. she just scored some new (new to her, anyway) parts for her camera on ebay and was anxious to play with them. i'm always up for a day wandering through portland with my camera. and a beautiful day it was. here are a few of the ones i was really pleased with.

arrested

my internet activities must be temporarily suspended due to an issue while changing service providers.

in other words, i won't have internet at home until next week. if my blogging lags we can blame it on that. i'm trying not to be super irritated, after all, i did live over half my life without internet. what's a week, right? at least i can check email at work.

sigh.
