wednesday already

how did it get to be wednesday already? for that matter, how did it get to be august already? the year is sprinting on, and here i am grasping for it's trailing skirts.

notice that nothing rally goes according to plan? in january i didn't think i'd be right here. i saw something completely different. i didn't know God would change my timeline for moving to edinburgh. and not once, but twice. september to december, december to march. and if i thought He would, i sure wouldn't have thought i'd be this okay with it.

i didn't think 'can we help?' would explode like it has, and i'd be spending 3 nights a week prayer walking downtown. i didn't have any idea of who i would be building community with this summer, or who would walk away. i didn't think my heart could grow to love my friends and family even more, or that it could hurt so much when things weren't as they should be, or that God would not let that hurt take me down. i didn't think i would see this much health and peace in my life, even in the face of that pain.

and now it's wednesday. i'm already more than half-way to the weekend. the first weekend in august. just over a month from my first trip to south america, another thing i didn't see coming. who knows what the rest of the year will hold. i know what i would like it to hold, and what i can picture it holding, but i'm sure that will be nothing like how it unfolds. i do know that it will bring even more awareness of God's love and faithfulness than i can grasp at this moment, because at this moment i know His love and faithfulness more than i could understand even just a few short months ago.

God is good.
