moved

yep. i moved again. i have a bit of a reputation for moving alot, even though this is only my second move in the last four and a half years. maybe that's because in the seven years prior to that i moved 13 times. (can you say "avoidance"?)

this time i knew my lease would be up at the end of december, but i wasn't sure what would follow. kt and i were talking about me moving in with her and the other girls, but somehow it just seemed like i should stay downtown. my rent was going up if i stayed where i was, and i didn't think i could live much longer in a 360 sq ft(about 33.5 sq meters) studio. we also still had the ongoing water leakage issue from early november from a rooftop drain that couldn't be fixed until it stopped raining, which was fixed last week. there's a huge repair/carpet cleaning issue as well. i didn't want to deal with that if i didn't have to.

so i prayed and thought and figured i'd see about moving into a larger unit within the building, but nothing was available...until the week before christmas, when a one-bedroom suddenly opened up. i wasn't sure if i should spend the additional money, but once i saw it i knew it was home for me for a season. it's on the corner of the building, so i only have one shared wall. and it has a bedroom, something the last one didn't have. it's also much larger at 595 sq ft(about 55 sq meters). it seemed perfect, and the timing was perfect, being the end of the year, for their books if i moved right on 1 jan. we had it all figured out and then wednesday evening it looked like there was an issue and it wasn't going to pan out. thursday i spent the day fighting the start of a horrible cold and trying not to be upset that the apartment didn't work out. and then, Friday afternoon i found out i could get it after all. i signed the paperwork saturday around noon and have been moving all weekend since.

i finished about half an hour ago. it feels good to be in this space. it's so different than any other move i've done, and so much more relaxed. funny that even sick as a dog i still was able to move 97% on my own (thank you mom & dad for helping me get through the final push!) and still be able to spend some time with friends. you should've seen me, kt and anna sitting around my new living room last night, wheezing, sniffing, coughing and sneezing our brains out. we were a sorry lot!

so now a new year begins with a truly new beginning. i don't really know what God has for me in 2007, but if this weekend is any indication, i can say there will be good times and hard times, but i will be surrounded by the love of friends and family, and help when i need it most.

happy new year!
