crunch

there is no more dreadful sound than that of two cars colliding. i was treated to that sound on my way home from work today. the bad new is one of the cars was mine. the other car merged onto the outer of the four-lanes of the 405 freeway, along with several other cars, so i got into the next lane. the outer two lanes, which were pretty much empty, turn into the bridge to merge onto I84 (where i was headed) and the inner two lanes turn into the entrance to I5 (apparently where the other guy was headed) which was so backed up it was at a dead stand-still. as soon at the other car merged onto the road he cut across into my lane then stopped in front of me to try to merge into the I5 lane that was completely backed up. between the wet roads and his suddenly pulling out in front of me and stopping there was nothing i could do but hit him.

i didn't hit him very hard, but it sure crunched up the corner of my pathetic little '90 carolla. his new car looked a bit rough on the bumper, but nobody was hurt. i haven't been in an accident since february of '97, so don't think it'll make my insurance go up. for now i'm just sitting around feeling my muscles knot up and thanking God my car is not totaled and nobody was hurt.
