big bright thing

i took this last friday in kansas city. we were on our way to get grub after i got in. the way the sunset was lighting this church was so beautiful to me.

the most striking difference i noticed between here and kc was the big bright thing in the sky they called the sun. we'd had 50+ days of rain straight. well, not completely straight. there was one day in january that it technically didn't rain in the city of portland, but it was overcast. since i've been back that sun thing has been showing up here too.

yesterday i took some pictures on my walk to the office. there's this amazing tree in the courtyard area between the north and south wings of the portland art museum. it's old and gnarled and architecturally stunning. i've been waiting for a cloudless sky to backdrop it (or as cloudless as possible. i don't expect completely cloudless around here!) so i could get a good picture. i took several others, but this was my fav.

thanks, man!

i gave jake back his camera last month (i swear i wasn't holding it captive...he told me i could keep it until he wanted it back) but i still have my friend tate's camera indefinately. tate's has no zoom, so it's a bit more challenging to a beginner like me. i have to frame my shots better from the get-go. it's good practice.
