provision

I received an email from my pastor yesterday that was so exciting. I really miss my community in Portland, and it was so good to hear of some of the amazing things God is doing in Father's House (FH), my church back home. One story was too good not to share. Here it is in Pastor Steve's words:

“…I guess one of the coolest things is this homeless guy named John who has been around FH since the K-House [our last building] days, a repenting then backsliding heroin addicted. Well in the last 6 months he has gotten free of heroin and we have been praying for him a lot during and after church. Last Sunday he said God told him to give us all the money he had, $60.00. He is a guy who sleeps in his truck and does not do all the “homeless services”. So by Wednesday He was freezing cold, hungry and complaining to God about giving all his money and feeling abandoned. He said he heard God laugh at him. Next day, his back Veteran’s Administration benefits come through and his income per month jumped to $2,700. Yesterday, he gave an offering of $1,000. Sheena, he was so humble and grateful and wrote this incredible note of how God’s presence at FH has changed his life. He called his offering a “drop in the bucket of God’s stimulus plan for FH… more to come”. It’s amazing that God has used a homeless man to help pay the bills that we had no clue how we would pay!...”

How amazing is God?
